On Wednesday, October 13th, Stevens 470 attended the Greater Westfield Chamber of Commerce WestNet event held at the East Mountain Country Club in Westfield. The event provided a wonderful dinner, raffle prizes, and a chance to mingle with local businesses. At the event, we were directed in "speed dating" which gave everyone the opportunity to speak to many of the different business representatives who attended. It was great to see familiar faces as well as many new attendees.
Stevens 470 attended the Greater Westfield Chamber of Commerce breakfast held on September 24, 2010 at the Air National Guard’s 104th Fighter Wing base at Barnes Municipal Airport. The morning began at 7:30 with a hearty breakfast including omelettes, hash browns, French toast, fruit cups and muffins. Several speakers were scheduled, including members of the National Guard, as well as Ira Bryck, director of the University of Massachusetts Family Business Center. Ira spoke about his experience in the family retail business as a fourth generation, and how he currently facilitates family business retreats to help others ease the transition from one generation to the next.

Stevens 470 participated in the Shriners Hospital 85th Birthday Walkathon this past Saturday in Springfield. We enjoyed the 3 mile walk through the park, and the food and festivities at the hospital. It was wonderful to see so many of the children that have been treated at Shriners Hospital, their families, friends and all the people that support the hospital. The event was a great success, with over 300 people attending the walk and barbeque. We are happy to have participated, and are proud to have worked with Shriners Hospital for so many years.
...according to the September issue of Wired magazine. That news was rather surprising to me given the amount of time we all spend on the internet. And that is the point the author, Chris Anderson, is making - while we spend tons of time on the internet, we are spending less time accessing the World Wide Web. So what is the difference and why should you care? Let’s start with a review of the difference.
We had the pleasure of sampling some unique Vosges Chocolates. Though I tried a few flavors, bacon being one of them, my preference was the Black Pearl Bar made with wasabi, ginger and black sesame seeds. It was intriguing to taste all those flavors. I did a little research on high end chocolate and came across The Mast Brothers, located near the Brooklyn Channel in New York.

Stevens 470 attended the annual Greater Westfield Chamber of Commerce Pancake Breakfast on July 8. The new setting on the lawn of the South Middle School was the perfect spot, with plenty of room and shady trees on the lawn. The rain and heat held off for the morning as well, making it a very enjoyable event. The delicious, fluffy pancakes were the perfect way to begin the day!
